In 1962 Ross Thomson graduated in Graphic Design from Edinburgh College of Art. Until 1969 he became an art director in various advertising agencies until he chose a different path as a freelance cartoonist. In 1970 he became a freelance cartoonist.

His cartoons have appeared in Punch, Private Eye, Readers' Digest, German Playboy etc., and also in advertising campaigns such as BOAC 'Earthshrinker', Midland Bank and London Buses. Ross has designed over 80 animated commercials and has won prizes in various cartoon competitions. His work currently appears on Inland Revenue literature and he is making an animated children's TV pilot film. Award winning London artist, Ross Thomson has a free and comical style that made him popular in the field of advertising and animation.

Since then, his cartoons have appeared in many successful advertising campaigns and magazines. He has also animated television commercials and won numerous prizes in various cartoon competitions, such as first prize Eurotunnel, 1994. His witty imagination and clever observations have made him successful in writing and illustrating children's books.
