Jacqueline Schafer / Holland

Born in 1961 in Holland, Jacqueline studied at the Gerrit Rietveld Art Academy from 1984 to 1989. Whist mainly working with acrylics, she often uses these in combination with crayons or pencils on paper, wood panel or linen, and also makes silk-screens and murals.
Her vibrant works are figurative, but not realistic, as she doesn't want to lose the contrast with reality and always wants to express something of real life, but in her own manner with her forms and lines. Clearly defined dark contour lines frame mostly monochrome colored areas. The painted figures have been simplified into tight, almost rectangular shapes. The motives are obvious and clear, affording a gripping and playful image. The style of working lends itself very well to the art of murals which Jacqueline has painted in various buildings. They can be seen in "All Sports" in Amstelveen, in the Amstelveen Hospital, and the Byzantium Building in Amsterdam. She has also made a series of murals in the head office of "Commit Arbo" in De Meern.
Jacqueline's exhibitions include the Caf Restaurant in De Duvel, the Bokx Office in Amsterdam, Wisselwerking in Diemen, and in All Sports in Amstelveen.
