| Jim Tsinganos
primarily works in pastels producing full bodied, quirky illustrations
with a heavy lean on the conceptual. His influences include: Chagall,
Mogdoigliani, Picasso, Anthony Gormecy & The Polish School of Theatre
Posters. In 1986, Jim Tsinganos graduated from Adelaide University with a bachelor of Design, specializing in illustration. He began freelancing from the S.A Writers Centre, in Rundle St. Melbourne, Australia. In 1987, Jim arrived in Amsterdam, where he freelanced for 7 months with "Het Professionals". Jim later returned to Australia and freelanced from Adelaide, South Australia in 1988. 1989 Jim had the opportunity to work in the design department of the S.A Drug & Alcohol Services Council. In 1992, he returned once more to Amsterdam & began freelancing with Archer Art. In 1994, Jim returned to Australia and later in 1995, Settled in Sydney. In 1996, he held a Solo show with "Every Picture Tells a Story", on George St. The Rocks. Jim received the Health & Well Being Award for best illustration in NSW in 1997 - Part of a group show with the illustrators Association of Australia. He also received the Melbourne Art Directors Award for best illustration which featured in Creative Magazine. Mr. Tsinganos had a Piece accepted into C.A Magazine in 1998, and gained representation in New York with Jacqueline Dredge Inc. In 1999, he won a Magazine award for best illustration, Melbourne Art Directors Award for best illustration, Highly commended in 2nd illustrators Association show, and held his second show with "Every Picture Tells a Story". |
