|
| Neil Thwaite was born in the UK in 1961.
In '67 he moved to Australia where he lived until 1991. He studied art
at the South Australian School of Art and worked as a full-time graphic
designer until he started his travels to Europe, where he met and worked
for Archer Art Amsterdam. In 1993 he returned to Australia which is his
home base from where he works extensively throughout Asia. Amongst his
clients are Singapore Post, Australian National Railways, Hewlett Packard,
Dentsu, Young & Rubicam, Douwe Egberts, Sarah Lee, Penthouse Magazine,
Elegance Magazine. Between jobs Neil likes to do his personal paintings. Without a briefing he likes to explore concepts of space, shape, light and textures. Whatever he learns in this process he then applies to his commercial work. Neil tries to illustrate in such a way that there is simple but very powerful connection between the written and the visual. Neil finds the most simple solutions work the best as there is no distraction from the use of colour, the composition etc. The images have their own integrity and not only communicate the text but compliment it. For his inspiration Neil looks at the work of other artists, such as photographers, film makers - past and present, illustrators, painters and anyone who has ever produced images that appeal to his own sensibilities. |
