| Willem Ritstier was born on the 12th June,
1959 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. He had ambitions of becoming a veterinarian, but discovered the discipline and study involved, and embarked upon a career as a cartoonist instead. He still expresses his fondness for animals, through his work. His characters - frequently people and animals - exude warmth, humor, and a love of life. He works on cartoons, comics, greeting cards, calendars, etc. for many European clients. He also writes comic stories of various styles for other artists.
