Born in 1968, Jose Luis combines Spanish and Dutch backgrounds. He studied graphic art and graphic design at St. Joost in the Dutch city of Breda. After his studies he made several short animations and had an exhibition in the ROSA Gallery in Breda.

He went to New York in 1995 where he joined a design bureau, specializing in house-styles, cd-covers and cards. He did various designs and illustrations for VARA, one of the Dutch broad-casting companies. Amongst these are illustrations done for Sesame Street.

Jose Luis enjoys doing books. He has just finished a cookery-book for Albert Heijn on Spanish food and is about to start a children's book for the same company. Being a food-lover he enjoys drawing various foods, which he does a lot for the Dutch Elle magazine.

Jose's work is currently on exhibition in the Annual Illustration Exhibition from the BNO (the Dutch designers' organisation).

He has worked for commercial clients such as ABN/Amro, Albert Heijn, KLM.
