Native New Yorker, Joan Hall, is a pioneer
in the field of collage and 3D assemblage illustration. From traditional
to digital, Joan continues to bring refreshing ideas and techniques
to this medium. Her combination of classical and contemporary images
result in a unique and individual style.
She has exhibited worldwide, and was commissioned by the American Cultural
Center to lecture and conduct workshops in France, India, and Brazil.
In May 2001, she was awarded a US State Dept. Cultural Grant to go to
Mexico and train teachers to teach recycling to children by creating
art with found objects and scrap images.
Joan is the illustrator of "The Policeman's Beard Is Half-Constructed",
the first book ever written by a computer, published by Warner Books.
Her work has recently been featured in Volume 1 of "Pro-Illustration",
a series of books published by the Society of Illustrators.
Joan has taught "Collage" at The School of Visual Arts in NYC since
1978.
