| Australian artist and storyteller, Jonathan
Edward's, currently lives in Carrollton, GA, U.S.A with his wife and children.
Jonathan currently works in the Georgia pre-k program teaching four and five year olds. He is a retired Naval Officer who has traveled extensively around Australia and the rest of the world. These years of travel allowed Jonathan to discover a variety of art styles and forms. His paintings hang in Australia, the USA and England. The influence of Australian Aboriginal Art and that culture's "Dreamtime Stories" can be seen throughout most of Jonathan's work. The Aboriginal Dreamtime is a way of communicating the history of the land and families through the generations by the telling of stories and making of pictures. Jonathan uses this format to entertain children with stories inspired from his childhood and travels. He also depicts the stories on canvas. Jonathan had the pleasure of performing tales from his dreamtime for children in the United Kingdom, his place of birth, in the spring of 1999 and 2000. Jonathan also uses his travel time to explore new art forms, including black and white photography. In the summer of 2001 he will be visiting Poland where he will photograph the Nazi concentration camps of Auschwitz, Birkenau and Paszow. These photographs will go on exhibition in the autumn of 2001. In addition to the photographs, forty oil canvas depiction's of stained glass windows influenced by the stained glass windows of Chagall will be displayed. Jonathan also wrote and narrated a story for a film in January of 2001. The film "Urban Folktales" is currently under production in Paris, France. As any true artist Jonathan seeks to continually enrich his art by seeking out different media and styles, but it is the Australian work that is his first love. |
