From the moment she could
hold a crayon in her hand, there hasn't been a time in K. Michael Crawford's
life when she hasn't been drawing and creating large number of whimsical
and quirky characters...all whom dwell in a magical land within her
enchanted imagination and have wondrous tales to tell.
Since her first book "Timbo and the Butterfly" was published, she has
shared her artistry in many books, telling stories old and new--most
recently "Chicken Little", "Gifted & Talented Story Starters: Mysteries",
"The Case of the Missing Math Teacher", "Miss Panda in England", "Miss
Panda in China", Miss Panda in Egypt", "Miss Panda in India", "Miss
Panda in Russia" "Miss Panda in Japan", and "Miss Panda in France".
Her drawings also lend a sense of whimsy to the covers of "Teaching
Art with Books Kids Love" and "Storybooks for Tough Times". Her delightful
artwork has found its way onto board games ("On Your Broom"), card games
("Burger Battle" and "Eddie's Eleven"), products ("Daffy Apple" and
"Zazzle T-shirts") and toys for children, in digital and cel painting
for Disney and Hanna Barbera.
She is now illustrating her 31st Children's book. Recently her painting
"Wizard" won a Honorable Mention at the Burbank Art Show and other paintings
have been on exhibit at the "Women at Work" Exhibit and "Art Luck" Exhibit.
Her painting "Abrabracabra" was selected to be apart of Illustration
West 40 website.
She exhibits her work throughout galleries around the country. K. Michael,
who considers herself "twelve at heart", lives with her characters in
Los Angeles California.
"Art is somewhat magical to me. As an artist, we take a tool (brush
and paint) and place it on the paper to show the world just how we see
it. In my case, I view the world, then mix it up in my head, add a little
humor and out it comes magically on the paper".
