Boris Covali-Lepei was born on the 4th of August, 1980 in Timisoara Romania.

His concept concerning the landscape painting is that of depicting the nature in all it's beauty. Boris says "It is my duty, as an artist, to remind people how important and wonderful nature is. In fact she was especially created for us, that is why we have the moral obligation to respect and protect her".

Boris feels that unfortunately now-days artists seems to be more concerned about the theoretical and abstract aspect of art. From his point of view, it is important not to push things so far. That is why he has found joy in the sincerity of realist art.

Boris used to paint his canvases in nature, staying face to face with her. He considers this is the only way to obtain a true portrait of nature. The realism means sincerity not a simple reproduction of nature.

Mr. Covali-Lepei shows all his respect for the Russian realist landscape painters such as Ivan Shishkin and Isaak Levitan and for the Romanian modern landscape paintings belonging to Nicolae Grigorescu, Stefan Luchian and Ion Andreescu. He is also very impressed by the French artist Claude Monet and Corot. All these artists have played an important role in his development as a realist landscape painter. But Boris says the greatest master at all, remains the nature!
